Whereas, Since 1967, Central Michigan University, through the cooperation of the Office of Student Life, CMU Program Board, Student Government Association, CM Life, and several student organizations, has sponsored the campus tradition entitled Gentle Friday; and,
Whereas, The special day is an opportunity for all members of our CMU family: students, faculty, administrators, and staff; to renew their commitment to the university’s sense of community, which binds all of us to one another; and,
Whereas, It is an event that symbolizes peace, goodwill, and respect for all associated with Central Michigan University; and,
Whereas, Gentle Friday also serves as an occasion to show appreciation to each other, to congratulate good friends on accomplishments, and to say thank you to the people who have touched our lives this year; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim April 26, 2005, as Gentle Friday in Michigan
