Granholm Statement on Weatherization Funding

Contact:  Liz Boyd 517-335-6397

July 6, 2009

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today released the following statement regarding federal Department of Energy approval of weatherization funding for Michigan:

"The weatherization funding made possible through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will help boost our economy and help families struggling with high energy bills.  Not only will more than 33,000 Michigan families benefit from reduced energy costs, we will also create hundreds of jobs for carpenters, electricians, laborers and others.  And by focusing our purchasing power on Michigan-made energy efficiency products, we are helping businesses across our state.  Creating jobs while helping families reduce their energy consumption and save money is a win-win-win for Michigan."
