Dear Colleague:

It is hard to believe that it's been a year since we last asked you to assess our progress in living our shared values, but it is time once again to take stock of how we are doing.  I am writing to you today to encourage you to complete the 2007 Employee Values Survey (EVS).

Your input is vital, and I hope you will take this opportunity to provide feedback.  The survey opens Monday, August 27, 2007, and closes on Friday, September 21, 2007.  Click the following link to complete the survey now:

Last year, we had a great response, with a 25 percent increase in the number of employees sharing their thoughts on progress, communication, and how well we work together as it relates to our shared values.  You told us then that you had great pride in your work and that an organization based on the values of Excellence, Integrity, Teamwork, and Inclusion would thrive in our challenging business climate.

Because I have been inspired by your innovative and efficient solutions to our work, this year we have added some questions about innovation and work results.  I look forward to working with agency directors to use this survey in helping us to find ways that best support your efforts as Michigan state government moves forward in the 21st century.

Again, I encourage you to complete the survey and let me know how you feel about the process and whether we are "walking the walk."  Once more, the overall responses will be shared with your directors, but all individual responses will remain strictly confidential.  It is my sincere desire and goal to make the state of Michigan a "great place to do great work."
