Jeremy Webb: A Day in the Life

Jeremy Webb

Waking up at noon, friends, and the beach – for many college students, this is the ideal recipe for summer break. But for Jeremy Webb, a Data Center student assistant, that is not the plan. Granted, being up at 7 a.m. and starting work at 7:30 is not his favorite part of the job. And yet, he is up and heading off to work.

Jeremy is just one of 41 student assistants within DIT that continually seems to make life easier for customers and other IT employees.  Student Assistants are often given the jobs that are not the most glamorous, but according to his co-workers, when Jeremy is given a task he exceeds expectations by doing more than he is asked to do. Jeremy works to distinguish himself as a good employee; he is continuously learning new skills that help him to excel at his job; and he handles tasks that are important to the office.

On an average day Jeremy’s job assignments can include processing Boise and credit card orders, reconciling credit card statements, greeting and escorting visitors, scheduling conference rooms, and preparing travel and direct vouchers.

When Jeremy is not putting out fires and investigating policies to make sure they are followed, he is working a second job at a car wash. In the event that Jeremy has some free time from work and school he enjoys working on his car, lifting weights and playing a lot of sports like football, basketball, baseball and soccer.

In the fall Jeremy will be transferring to Central Michigan University to finish his teaching degree, with a major in elementary mathematics and a minor in elementary reading. He hopes to teach 4th or 5th graders.

Jeremy has lived in Lansing his whole life but will make the big move to Mt. Pleasant in the fall.

Congratulation Jeremy and good luck at CMU!
