Whereas, The India Week Celebration of Ustav will b held during the week of April 8-16, 2005; and,
Whereas, The culture and the people of the State of Michigan has continually been renewed and enriched by people of Indian descent who have chosen to live in our great state; and,
Whereas, The contributions made by the Asian Indian community members in the areas of economy, government, science, medicine, arts, music, education, law and religion have enhanced our economy and society; and,
Whereas, The celebration of Ustav aims to forge a coalition between community organizations within and outside of the Asian Indian community, and promote cross-cultural exchanges that improve life within Michigan; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of April 8, 2005, as India Week in Michigan.
