Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Whereas, Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the United States and the world, this year killing more Americans than breast, prostate, and colon cancer combined; and,

Whereas, Former smokers and people who have never smoked comprise the majority of new cases of lung cancer each year; and,

Whereas, The Lung Cancer Alliance is dedicated to informing and advocating for people living with lung cancer or at risk for the disease; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 2005, as Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and I encourage all citizens to increase their awareness of lung cancer issues.
