Aging in Place Week

Whereas, Our oldest, wisest and most valuable citizens, while they age, want to stay in their homes and neighborhoods of many years; and,

Whereas, Aging in Place is the best and most economical way for our older citizens to enjoy the full benefit of their lives in peace and happiness; and,

Whereas, Service systems, physical environments and financing of Aging in Place need to be enhanced and promoted; and,

Whereas, Greater awareness of the Possibilities, Promise and Value of Aging in Place need to be discussed, supported, and embraced by our citizens; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of November 7, 2005, as Aging in Place Week in Michigan and I encourage all citizens to recognize the needs, desires, and opportunities of our oldest citizens.
