Whereas, The week of November 13, 2005, has been declared “National Elevator Escalator Safety Awareness Week”; and,

Whereas, The purpose of this week is to increase public awareness of the safe and proper use of elevators, escalators, and moving walks; and,

Whereas, Through education and awareness, avoidable accidents can be reduced; and,

Whereas, The commitment and dedication of the elevator industry to the safety of the people of the Great Lakes States is certainly worthy of recognition; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do here by proclaim the week of November 13, 2005, as Elevator Escalator Safety Awareness Week in Michigan.
