Whereas, The descendants of Obazu who live in all parts of the United States will be holding their 8th national convention on May 27, 2006, in the great State of Michigan; and,
Whereas,The convention will serve as an opportunity for all Obazu indigenes living in all parts of the United States to meet and discuss ways to further maintain, share, and solidify their unique heritage; and,
Whereas, The convention will further serve as an opportunity for all Obazu indigenes to meet and renew acquaintances, and will also provide a platform to find ways to make a concrete and positive impact on their ancestral home by raising funs to restore the prestige of the oldest secondary school in Obazu; and,
Whereas, On Saturday, May 27, 2006, a gala event celebrating the launching of the Obazu Community Grammar School restoration project will be held at the Mother of God Parish Hall in Southfield, Michigan, with the proceeds going to restore the dilapidated school building by resourceful Obazu men and women; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim May 27, 2006, as Obazu Day in Michigan.
