Firefighter Day

Whereas, Firefighters unselfishly give their time and energy, and often risk their own lives to protect the citizens of their community; and,

Whereas, Through their dedication to protect the safety of their fellow citizens, firefighters distinguish themselves among the ranks of our greatest public servants; and,

Whereas, Through their professionalism and pursuit of excellence, firefighters remind us of the nobility of their rewarding profession; and,

Whereas, Michigan firefighters have demonstrated the highest skill and professional achievement in their field, and have won the admiration, respect, and appreciation of the citizens of this Great Lakes State; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim August 12, 2006, as Firefighters’ Day in Michigan.
