Healthy Cities Day

Whereas, The Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) is committed to improving the lives of the citizens in the SEMCA region; and,

Whereas, To help improve the lives of those citizens SEMCA has created the “Healthy You Tour” which will work to educate the people about important health issues that effect them; and,

Whereas, The purpose of the “Healthy You Tour” is to promote health management and a drug-free lifestyle and will provide free health screenings, give-a-ways, live entertainment, and educational workshops; and,

Whereas, It is a pleasure to join with SEMCA in recognizing Sumpter Township, Romulus, Van Buren Township, and Belleville as “Healthy Cities” and I thank them for putting the community members first and ensuring they lead healthy and drug-free lifestyles; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim August 17, 2006, as Healthy Cities Day in Michigan.
