Whereas, Medical libraries work tirelessly to provide relevant, timely, and authoritative health information to medical professionals in order to enhance patient care and safety; and,
Whereas, Through their community outreach, medical libraries assist patients and their families in understanding medical diagnoses and their treatments; and,
Whereas, Through the expansion of electronic networking, medical libraries have increased the accessibility of health information; and,
Whereas, It is important to recognize the unique contributions of medical libraries and their value to individuals and society; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2006, as Medical Library Month.
