Whereas, Physical therapists contribute greatly to the economic vitality and health of the State of Michigan with their talent, discipline, and skills; and,
Whereas, Physical therapy is an important part of health care and rehabilitation for many people who have been critically injured or have ailments that prevent them from accomplishing everyday tasks; and,
Whereas, With the skilled professional, and dedicated care and treatment of physical therapists, individuals have the opportunity to develop alternative ways to perform day-to-day activities or to regain health, mobility, and stamina lost through injury or illness; and,
Whereas, During the month of October, physical therapists throughout the Great Lakes State are recognized for their commitment to preserving the health and mobility of Michigan's citizens and for their dedication to meeting the demands of this challenging career; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2006, as Physical Therapy Month. I encourage all citizens to recognize the physical therapists in their community for their contributions to the health, happiness, and success of Michigan's residents.
