Whereas, The Saginaw Great Lakes Chapter #68 of the National Association of Railway Business Women has distinguished itself as the voice of women in transportation in the Saginaw area for over 30 years; and,
Whereas, The work done by Saginaw Chapter #68 has benefited Saginaw and the state through community development and educational programs; and,
Whereas, Saginaw Chapter #68 has increasingly promoted the employment and advancement of women in the transportation industry; and,
Whereas, The women in the railway transportation community, represented by the National Association of Railway Business Women, have worked to foster cooperation and better understanding within the railroad and its affiliates, have created good public relations for the railroad industry, and have undertaken charitable and benevolent projects in their communities; and,
Whereas, Saginaw Chapter #68 has sought to achieve successful results for Saginaw and surrounding areas of the state through cooperative partnerships with other organizations; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the May 18, 2007, as Women in Transportation Day in Michigan. I am proud to recognize Saginaw Chapter #68 and its many dedicated volunteers for their steadfast work on behalf of and in support of women in transportation.
