Whereas, Michigan has more than 1.6 million adults who are age 60 and older; and,

Whereas, We honor Michigan's older adults for their valuable contributions to our civic and social life, as well as our economic wellbeing; and, 

Whereas, Their lifelong experiences give them wisdom and a priceless perspective on life that can be shared with others; and,

Whereas, Older Americans Month is celebrated in Michigan and across the country every year; and,

Whereas, The theme of this year's Older Americans Month is "Older Americans:  Making Choices for a Healthier Future;" and,

Whereas, Older adults are entitled to live and enjoy healthier lives in dignity and independence; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim May 2007, as Older Americans Month in Michigan.
