Whereas, The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Engineering Licensure in the United States in 2007; and,
Whereas, NCEES provides leadership in professional licensure through excellence in uniform laws, licensing standards and professional ethics for the protection of public health, safety and welfare; and,
Whereas, This nonprofit organization develops, produces and scores the only national engineering licensure examinations, guards against exam fraud, and works to facilitate state-to-state licensure mobility; and,
Whereas, Engineering licensure began in the State of Michigan in June 1919 and today the state has more than 20,000 licensed professional engineers; and,
Whereas, The Michigan State Board of Professional Engineers recognizes the work of NCEES in Michigan and across the United States; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim July 2007, as Engineering Licensure Month.
