Whereas, The United States Army is celebrating its 232nd birthday on June 14, 2007; and,
Whereas, On this occasion we recognize our Michigan soldiers who have served the United States with courage and bravery since the nation's infancy; and,
Whereas, There are currently 17 Michigan Army Reserve units and more than 800 citizen-soldiers from our great state deployed alongside our active duty soldiers; and,
Whereas, Observing Army Day honors the proud legacy of our men and women in uniform, who sacrifice comfort and wealth, and leave family, friends and safety behind to defend the values we hold dear; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim July 14, 2007, as Army Day in Michigan. I applaud the service and sacrifices of the distinguished Michigan citizens who have so proudly served in the United States Army.
