Whereas, Generation E is a program devoted to encouraging entrepreneurship education in school to aid students in making real-life connections through the education process; and
Whereas, Generation E incorporates entrepreneurial learning into middle school, high school and young adult curriculums, and works to promote the entrepreneurial spirit by unleashing the full potential and creativity of students through hands-on business experience; and,
Whereas, Generation E is a model program for Michigan school students and it advances the educational and economic foundation necessary for a robust Michigan economy; and,
Whereas, More than 125 Generation E student businesses from all over Michigan, will display their products for the public to view and purchase and will be entered in a competition for scholarships and prize money at the Second Annual Generation E Student Business Showcase on May 22, 2007; and,
Whereas, Youth Entrepreneurship Week is an opportunity to celebrate and promote youth entrepreneurship by showcasing middle school, high school and young adult student businesses that were created, researched and operated while taking part in the Generation E program; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of May 20, 2007, as Youth Entrepreneurship Week.
