Whereas , The safety of our children is a significant concern for parents, community leaders, and health care providers; and,

Whereas , The environmental welfare of our children is of universal concern and deserves the utmost attention; and,

Whereas , If begun in childhood, proper health, safety, and environmental habits can be maintained for a lifetime, thereby providing significant enhancements to our way of life; and now therefore be it,

Resolved , That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim September 20, 2008, as Kids Day America in Michigan, and I encourage all citizens to dedicate this day to educating and teaching our youth about the importance of health, safety, and environmental issues affecting our communities.
