Whereas , U.S. Census Bureau statistics indicate that the number of older Americans aged 65 or older will double by the year 2030, to over 70 million; and,

Whereas , Communities throughout the United States will be both commemorating and celebrating the month of July as a tribute to the dedication, patience, and caring of adults who are part of the Sandwich Generation; and,

Whereas , On behalf of the citizens of Michigan, I salute all those who are part of the Sandwich Generation; and now therefore be it,

Resolved , That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim July 2008 as Sandwich Generation Month.
