Whereas , Employers share their greatest resource - their employees - with the National Guard and the Reserves; and,

Whereas, By supporting our National Guard and Reservists men and women and their families, employers, too, are helping to advance freedom and democracy; and,

Whereas , It is important that employers understand the vital role they, as businesses, play in ensuring the continuation of a strong national defense; and,

Whereas , The pride, dedication, and commitment that has been shown by people in National Guard and Reserve units throughout the Great Lakes State serve as an example to us all; and now therefore be it,

Resolved , That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of September 14, 2008, as Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserves Week in Michigan, and I encourage all citizens of Michigan to show their appreciation to those employers who support their National Guard and Reserves employees.
