Whereas , The Association for Childhood Education International and teachers across our nation actively work to promote the inherent rights, education, and well-being of all children; and,
Whereas , A crucial part of our children's educational experience involves teachers working side-by-side with parents and administrators every day to provide the best learning environments for their students; and,
Whereas , Teachers use their skills to help ensure that our children have the resources necessary to become productive citizens and future leaders; and,
Whereas , The 2008 observance of the Association for Childhood Education International "Week of the Classroom Teacher" provides a unique opportunity for citizens throughout Michigan to honor teachers for their dedication to upholding the highest standards of educational excellence, and for their commitment to ensuring that our young people achieve their maximum potential; and now therefore be it,
Resolved , That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of October 5, 2008, as Week of the Classroom Teacher. During this week-long observance, I encourage residents to honor our teachers for their significant contributions to our children's futures.
