Whereas , Michigan is fortunate to have among its population a large concentration of citizens of Filipino descent, including those who have been a part of our state for generations and those who are new to our Great Lakes State; and,

Whereas , The cultural fabric of Michigan is made richer by the invaluable contributions of the Filipino American tradition, their arts, culture, cuisine, and religion; and now therefore be it,

Resolved , That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2008 as Filipino American Heritage Month in Michigan, and I encourage all citizens to recognize and applaud the many contributions made by Filipino Americans that enhance our quality of life in Michigan.
