Whereas, Environmental health professionals have long been dedicated to the improvement
of public health through management of the environment and preventive measures
that reduce total health care costs and often avoid health hazards; and,
Whereas, Lack of attention to preventive measures can lead to catastrophic
illness or injury which can ultimately lead to financial ruin for families,
as well as the incalculable cost of human misery and loss; and,
Whereas, The environmental health professionals in Michigan apply their expertise
to known or potential problems, and their dedicated efforts contribute to the
continued protection and improvement of the health of Michigan’s citizens;
and,
Whereas, Throughout the years, the Michigan Environmental Health Association
has held an annual conference and will this year hold it’s 59th Annual
Education Conference from March 12 -14, 2003; and now therefore be it
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State
of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of March 9, 2003, as Environmental
Health Week in Michigan and urge all citizens to recognize the contributions
to public health made by environmental health professionals.
