Whereas, Medical Assistants are multi-skilled, allied health professionals who
perform a wide range of administrative and clerical roles with skill, dedication
and loyalty; and,
Whereas, Medical Assistants are the central figures in promoting and maintaining
cooperative and successful relationships between patients and physicians; and,
Whereas, The health care delivery system depends on the skill and professionalism
of Medical Assistants, who are considered to be vital members of the health
care team; and,
Whereas, A substantial contribution to the quality of health care in the United
States has been made by Medical Assistants; and,
Whereas, With the many challenges facing health care, it is clear that the
men and women who pursue the profession of Medical Assistant will play a strong
role in the delivery of vital services in the future as those roles and responsibilities
are expanded; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of Michigan, do hereby
declare the week of October 20, 2003, as Medical Assistants Recognition Week.
