Environmental Health Week

Whereas, Environmental health professionals have long been dedicated to the improvement of public health through management of the environment and preventive measures that reduce total health care costs and often avoid health hazards; and,

Whereas, Lack of attention to preventive measures can lead to catastrophic illness or injury which can ultimately lead to financial ruin for families, as well as the incalculable cost of human misery and loss; and,

Whereas, The environmental health professionals in Michigan apply their expertise to known or potential problems, and their dedicated efforts contribute to the continued protection and improvement of the health of Michigan’s citizens; and,

Whereas, Throughout the years, the Michigan Environmental Health Association has held an annual conference and will this year hold it’s 60th Annual Education Conference from March 17-19, 2004; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of March 14, 2004, as Environmental Health Week in Michigan and urge all citizens to recognize the contributions made by environmental health professionals to the public health and wellbeing.
