Whereas, The mission of the Save a Life Foundation is training and developing
people as volunteers, equipped with life supporting skills to act in an emergency;
and,
Whereas, Heightening public awareness is a key goal of the Save a Life Foundation
in addition to training individuals, especially children, with life supporting
skills which are essential to maintain the life of the injured or ill in an
emergency until more advanced help arrives; and,
Whereas, The Save a Life Foundation encourages communities to incorporate the
Save a Life for Kids life support program for all school age children; and,
Whereas, Citizen training in emergency preparedness and life supporting first
aid, including Community Emergency Response Team education, is critical in situations
where quick thinking and action can save lives; and,
Whereas, Save a Life Foundation, an affiliate of the Federal Emergency Management
Agency and of the U.S. Homeland Security’s Citizen Corps, encourages communities
to demonstrate a commitment to emergency preparedness; and now therefore be
it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim the week of May 16, 2004, as Save a Life Week in Michigan.
