Whereas, During May, which is Older Americans Month, the 24th Annual Hispanic
Senior Citizens Day will be celebrated in Michigan; and,
Whereas, Hispanic Seniors are honored for the invaluable contributions they
make by imparting wisdom, tradition and cultural history, and by enriching the
lives of families and citizens throughout our great State; and,
Whereas, In addition, Hispanic Senior Citizens Day celebrates and recognizes
the tremendous contributions senior citizens make to the growth, prosperity
and cultural richness of our Great Lakes State; and,
Whereas, For 24 years, the Latin American Services Program of the Area Community
Services of Kent County has continuously promoted an annual Hispanic Senior
Citizens Day to encourage the provision of services to Hispanic senior citizens
to enable them to live full and productive lives; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim May 21, 2004, as Hispanic Senior Citizens Day in Michigan.
