Whereas, Teachers throughout our nation and the Association for Childhood Education
International actively work to promote the inherent rights, education and well-being
of all children; and,
Whereas, As a crucial part of our children’s educational experience,
teachers work side by side with parents and administrators every day to provide
the best learning environments for their students; and,
Whereas, Teachers use their skills to help ensure that our children have the
resources necessary to become productive citizens and future leaders; and,
Whereas, The 2003 observance of the Association for Childhood Education International
Week of the Classroom Teacher provides a unique opportunity for citizens throughout
Michigan to honor our teachers for their dedication to upholding the highest
standards of educational excellence and for their commitment to ensuring that
our young people achieve their maximum potential; and now therefore be it
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim the week of May 4, 2003, as Week of the Classroom Teacher
in Michigan. I encourage all residents to honor teachers throughout our state
for their significant contributions to our children’s futures.
