Whereas, SME promotes an increased awareness of manufacturing engineering and helps keep manufacturing professionals up to date on leading trends and technologies; and,

Whereas, Since 1938, Midwest Manufacturers have counted on SME’s manufacturing exposition in Southeast Michigan to stay current on advanced technologies and progressive management methods; and,

Whereas, Thousands of professionals from the automotive, aerospace, defense, and medical manufacturing will view equipment and the latest technologies from more than 200 exhibitors; and,

Whereas, With members in 70 countries and support by a network of hundreds of chapters worldwide, SME influences more than half a million manufacturing engineers and executives annually; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of September 7, 2003 through September 13, 2003, as Michigan Manufacturing Week.
