Whereas, Michigan trade and professional associations are non-profit Michigan
organizations that represent companies and individuals with a common interest
in an issue or profession; and,
Whereas, Michigan associations strive to improve the quality of the trades
and professions they represent by offering opportunities to their embers to
enhance their civic involvement, increase their knowledge in the field, and
to keep pace with industry advancements; and,
Whereas, In addition to all the work these associations accomplish, association
service programs provide food, heat, medical help for the elderly, legal help,
substance abuse programs, shelter for the poor and many more valuable services;
and,
Whereas, The Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) is an organization
which has been providing, for the past 76 years, a direct link between leaders
of many Michigan trade and professional associations, promoting the efficiency
of business practices, as well as improving services to their members and to
the community; and,
Whereas, The Michigan Society of Association Executives and the many trade
and professional associations in Michigan contribute greatly to the community
by encouraging their members to become involved in worthy endeavors to help
others; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim the week of December 1, 2003, as Association Week in Michigan
and I urge all citizens of the Great Lakes State to recognize the important
role that Michigan trade and professional associations play in our daily lives.
