Gastrointestinal Nursing Day

Whereas, Gastrointestinal nurses and associates are committed to provide optimal healthcare to patients with gastrointestinal diseases who undergo diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; and,

Whereas, The purpose of Gastrointestinal Nursing Day is to promote public awareness of gastrointestinal health issues and health care systems, as well as to promote participation in gastrointestinal wellness programs; and,

Whereas, Gastrointestinal nurses and associates have demonstrated their professionalism and compassion for their patients and have continually striven both to upgrade standards of practice and to improve services; and,

Whereas, It is important that the State of Michigan recognize the unity, dedication and determination found within this professional nursing organization; and now therefore be it

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 24, 2004, as Gastrointestinal Nursing Day in Michigan. I urge all citizens to recognize the special care gastrointestinal nurses and associates provide their patients.
