Whereas, The success and prosperity of this nation and the state of Michigan
depend on the quality of education our youth receive from birth through twelfth
grade; and,
Whereas, Within the preschool and school environment, school support staff
are recognized as vital to the success of students, teachers, and administrators;
and,
Whereas, The support staff’s role in support of teaching and learning
directly affects the morale and performance of students, teachers, and administrators;
and,
Whereas, These professionals provide nurturing, caring, learning support, and
a safer and appropriate environment; and,
Whereas, School Support Staff Week is dedicated to recognizing the significant
contributions of Michigan school support staff to their learning environment;
and therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim the week of April 19, 2004, as School Support Staff Week
in Michigan, and I urge all citizens to share their gratitude for the efforts
of support staff in their educational communities.
