Whereas, State employees are recognized as an invaluable resource to State of Michigan Government and the State is served by loyal employees in many essential areas including education, economic development and management, public safety, transportation, human services and the environment; and,
Whereas, State employees dedicate themselves to the continuous improvement of the quality of life for Michigan citizens as they perform their duties as public servants; and,
Whereas, State employees provide services with professionalism, skill and dedication that have helped Michigan develop a reputation for quality and excellence and are on duty every day, ready to render assistance to their fellow Michigan citizens in critical times of need; and,
Whereas, Public service demands excellence, diversity and perseverance in providing health and human services, transportation systems, environmental protection, recreational areas and travel service, business and agricultural development, public safety, and numerous support activities to ensure the well-being of our Great Lakes State; and,
Whereas, Public Service Recognition Week, beginning May 2, 2005, is a nationally recognized event that provides an opportunity to express our appreciation to public service employees who contribute so significantly to the efficient and effective operation of Michigan; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of May 2, 2005, as State Employee Appreciation Week in Michigan, and I encourage all our citizens to take this opportunity to join me in expressing to all State employees our appreciation for their commendable service.
