Whereas, The career development needs of our youth are a vital concern of Michigan; and,
Whereas, The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program is widely used and is a valid and reliable multiple-aptitude testing program that measures current skills and abilities and estimates what a student can accomplish with further education and training; and,
Whereas, The ASVAB is supported financially by the Department of Defense and is provided without direct cost to the state or schools participating in the program; and,
Whereas, The comprehensive career direction provided by schools' career guidance and counseling service in combination with the ASVAB Program is likely to lead to increased career satisfaction, adaptation to occupational change, enhanced educational experience and enriched personal lives; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 2007, as Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Career Exploration Awareness Month in Michigan.
