Whereas, Michigan recognizes strong families are at the center of strong communities and are an essential part of our cultural and social fabric; and,
Whereas, Everyone has a role to play in making families successful, including family members, neighborhood organizations, businesses, nonprofit agencies, and policymakers; and,
Whereas, Thanksgiving week is a great opportunity to take time to honor the importance of families and recognize the special connections that support and strengthen families year-round; and,
Whereas, With the assistance and resources of local and statewide agencies, we can create a better future for families of all types and sizes; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of November 18, 2007, as Michigan Family Week.
