Whereas, Originally, the role of case manager was introduced post-World War II, but has formalized over the last two decades with a vast number of case managers working in the healthcare industry; and,
Whereas, Case management is generally considered an advanced practice and most managers have 25 years of clinical experience and between five and ten years of case management expertise; and,
Whereas, There are approximately 130,000 case managers in the United States and that number grows exponentially when full collaborative practice teams are included; and,
Whereas, Case managers facilitate the assessment, coordination, and follow-through of plans of care for patients being treated in a healthcare facility; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of October 7, 2007, as Case Manager Week.
