Whereas , Older adults are significant members of our society, investing their wisdom and experience to help enrich and better the lives of younger generations; and,
Whereas , The mission of the Michigan Association of Senior Centers (MASC) is to promote the growth, development, and expansion of senior centers and to advance professional senior center leadership; and,
Whereas , The vision of MASC is a dynamic network of senior centers committed to growth, excellence, and strategic partnerships; and,
Whereas , MASC has acted as a catalyst mobilizing the creativity, energy, vitality, and commitment of the older adults in Michigan; and,
Whereas , MASC has promoted and strengthened the profession of senior center's management and senior centers within the aging network; and,
Whereas , Through the wide array of services, programs, and activities, senior centers empower older adults to contributes to their own health and well-being and the health and well-being of their fellow citizens of all ages; and,
Whereas , The MASC in the state of Michigan affirms the dignity, self-worth, and independence of older adults by facilitating their decisions and actions; tapping their experiences, skills and knowledge, and enabling their continued contributions to the community; and,
Resolved , That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim September 2008 as Senior Center Month. I am pleased to recognize and honor the Michigan Association of Senior Centers for the community service it has provided for the past 20 years.
