Whereas , The children of Michigan are our most important resource and the very foundation of the future of the Great Lakes State; and,
Whereas , Hundreds of Michigan infants die each year in preventable tragedies because they are placed in unsafe sleeping environments; and,
Whereas , The safest sleeping environment for babies is alone on the their backs in an empty crib with a tightly fitted sheet and sufficient sleepwear; and,
Whereas , Parents, grandparents, relatives, and day care providers have access to resources to learn more about providing babies with safe sleep environments at www.michigan.gov/safesleep; and,
Whereas , The month of September is an opportunity to inform or remind all caregivers to check infant sleep environments to help prevent needless tragedies; and now therefore be it,
