The Michigan
Department of Labor & Economic Growth today announced the awarding of $250,000
in Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Statewide Activities funding to Southeast
Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) Michigan Works! This funding will be utilized
to support on-the-job training for newly hired employees at DaimlerChrysler’s
two new facilities in Dundee.
“This funding
provides to workers that will give workers the skills needed to succeed in the
21st-century workforce,” said Governor Jennifer M. Granholm.
WIA Statewide Activities funding is made available through the federal
Workforce Investment Act and is administered by the Department of Labor &
Economic Growth.
The Michigan
Department of Labor & Economic Growth is the state government agency charged
with providing the skilled workforce Michigan needs to enhance and maintain

with employers, K-12 schools, community colleges and local Workforce Development
