BACKGROUND: The Kal-Haven Trail is a non-motorized pathway that presently links South Haven with the Kalamazoo area just to the west of US-131.
Federal and state enhancement funds, local communities and private parties we able to provide funding for linking the westerly leg of the trail with the developing trail east of US-131 through the construction of a tunnel under US-131.
Today's dedication provides the official opening of the tunnel and the first look at the trail toward downtown Kalamazoo.
