The Map Collection at the Library of Michigan

The Library of Michigan's Map Collection contains thousands of maps. The collection includes early nineteenth century maps of the state and territory, copies of the Library of Congress county wall maps of Michigan, city and county maps of the twentieth century, and nautical charts.

Our collection also contains various editions of the U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps of Michigan, and U.S. Bureau of the Census maps from the 1970-1990 censuses.

The Map Collection is located on the second floor and does not circulate; many of the maps have been placed in the Rare Books Collection.

If you need assistance in locating maps in our collection, please ask for help at any of the public services desks.
