Teacher Workshops
Learn unique approaches to teaching Michigan history while you explore our state's historic sites and the museums of the Michigan Historical Museum System. Register for a Michigan Historical Museum-sponsored teacher workshop near you—or venture to a place you've not yet visited.
Workshops are open to teachers, Scout and youth group leaders, historical society members and others who share Michigan history in learning situations. Space may be limited. Participants must register in advance. To inquire about arranging a workshop for a group of teachers (10+) at the Michigan Historical Museum, contact Tami Averill, Curator of Education at (517) 241-4060. Return to this page for announcements of future scheduled workshops.
See The BIG History Lesson pages for information about workshops for conducting this unique one-week program at your museum or for participating in The BIG History Lesson at the Michigan Historical Museum
Teachers also find lots of ideas they can use in the classroom at Michigan Historical Center programs and special events. Check out our Calendar of Events.
Find the state's popular history magazine and other informative publications at Michigan History magazine. The Michigan History for Kids program (with teacher guides) is available by subscription to Michigan teachers and the general public. Past publications in the program are also available on-line.
