Comments: There is not a special genealogy area. Limited counter space is available for all customers. When short staffed, genealogy hours may be limited.

Births: 1869 to present. Death certificates are required to obtain birth certificate unless the certificate is older than 110 years.

Deaths: 1869 to present

Marriages: 1827 to present

Divorces: Early 1900s to present. Older records take 1-2 days to retrieve from storage.

Military Discharges: 1919 to present

Anne Norlander, Calhoun County Clerk-Register, and Toni Fritz, the Clerk-Register's Administrative Assistant, conducted a survey of offices in 1993 in order to make this information available to the public. Calhoun County printed the 1994 Michigan County Clerks Genealogy Directory, prepared as a product of this inventory. The Archives of Michigan revised this on-line edition of the directory in 2001.
