Focus on Service

During July and August, the SBPH staff will be learning a new circulation system. This is another element of our continuing efforts to provide you with excellent talking-book service. While we do not expect this change to affect your talking book services, you may experience interruptions in mailing out materials. If you experience ANY difficulties with your talking book or Braille service, please call us. Look for additional information about our new system in future issues of Focus 23!

Focus on The Blue Ridge Radio Players

We just received three new audio plays recorded on cassettes by the National Audio Theater/Blue Ridge Radio Players. They are:

  • LM 7141 The Law of Averages
  • LM 7142 The Nobility Pitch
  • LM 7143 The Lovers

The mission of this organization is to provide audio alternatives for people with disabilities who enjoy reading. For more information on our collection of Blue Ridge cassettes, contact your reader advisor.

Focus on Library Service

When you call our toll-free telephone number (1-800-992-9012), please remember the following:

  • Please identify yourself by spelling your last name.
  • When calling for a friend, relative or student, please provide the name of the person who will receive the service.
  • If you are calling for a school, nursing home, or other institution, please provide the name of the institution rather than the name of a contact person.

Focus on Active Service

No, this is not a call to arms from Uncle Sam. It is a reminder that the Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped requires that all users borrow at least one book or magazine per year in order to keep their service active with us. Currently, we offer 46,000 cassette titles and over 10,000 Braille titles of fiction and non-fiction books for your enjoyment. Give us a call. We're delighted to help you find a good book or magazine to read!
