Cultural Economic Development Initiative Overview PPT icon
Arts and Culture Adding Value to Michigan's Economic Agenda - Michigan's economic recovery demands maximum use and leverage of all available resources and opportunities. The Department of History, Arts and Libraries has developed initiatives to help achieve these goals.

Cultural Economic Development Online Tool (CEDOT)
Although Michigan's cultural sector is a key economic driver it lacks current scientific measures of its economic performance and contributions to economic development. In FY 2006, in partnership with Michigan State University, the Department of History Arts and Libraries (HAL) developed the Cultural Economic Development Tool (CEDOT), the first online system of its kind in the nation. CEDOT is a research survey/cultural economic analysis tool.

Sugar Hill Arts Project PPT icon
Sugar Hill, a community listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has the potential to become a major cultural destination.
Strategic investment will help connect contiguous but separate major Sugar Hill arts initiatives into a cohesive arts destination by creating public spaces with arts and design components that provide pedestrian-friendly access corridors.

CED Readiness Initiative
Provides strategic assistance and resources to small communities that may have experienced economic decline, but possess significant historical, cultural and natural assets that have high potential as catalysts for economic growth. The Readiness Initiative helps provide the initial preparation of a community to successfully undertake cultually-based economic development.
