National Association of Social Workers

Workforce Issues Studied:

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) surveys members about workforce issues including social workers who are employed in health care systems.  The organization is currently completing a benchmark national study of licensed social workers in conjunction with the Center for Workforce Studies, School of Public Health, and the University at Albany.

Research and Publications:

Additional studies are planned in the future that will focus on special segments of social work or on services to specific populations.   These additional studies are in the early stages of development and the NASW will be defining a study agenda.

The NASW publishes studies and disseminates information on their website.  A special website that will serve as a clearinghouse for workforce information about social work was launched in early 2006.  Social work labor force issues are typically available in electronic format.
