Workforce Issues Studied:

The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), through their national database made up of physician and physician assistant licensure, discipline and credential information, has done research regarding workforce issues.  They have also recently been working with the American Association of Medical Colleges on workforce issues and research.

Research and Publications:

Workforce information (physician and physician assistant licensure and disciplinary data, physician address, medical school, year of graduation, exam history, board certification, etc.) is collected and published. Certain information could be made available to the public or is already currently available.   

The FSMB will continue to work with the American Association of Medical Colleges to find ways for states to collect workforce information in a uniform manner.
