Acting Racing Commissioner, Patricia A. Lockwood announces the passage of the supplemental appropriations bill (HB 4311) that returns to the Office of Racing Commissioner (ORC) the authority to operate within the fiscal year (FY) 2010 budget that began October 1, 2009. Live racing and simulcasting will continue at Michigan's horse racing tracks, as per the pre-approved race dates, until further notice.
The supplemental budget for fiscal year FY 2010 is an $850,000 reduction from FY 2009. A financial review of the FY 2010 budget is underway. Any necessary adjustments in ORC operations will be made and reported as soon as available.
