MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement Authorizing Alpena Power Company to Implement Its Renewable Energy and Energy Optimization Plans

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement authorizing Alpena Power Company to implement its renewable energy plan (REP), energy optimization (EO) plan, and corresponding surcharges, as required by Public Act 295 of 2008.

The utility is authorized to implement its REP surcharge beginning Sept. 1.  The average residential customer will see a monthly $3 REP surcharge.

The utility is authorized to implement the energy optimization surcharge for bills beginning July 1 and thereafter.  The average residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see a monthly EO surcharge of 65 cents.

The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement proceedings.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
